Vicki Thompson Winfield - Career
Overview
Vicki is a highly successful and internationally recognised dressage rider and trainer whose extensive equestrian experience has been acquired over 30 years. Throughout her career Vicki has represented the UK at the highest levels at numerous international competitions, including the Olympics, as well as acquiring 20 British Dressage national championship titles.
Vicki was classically trained by the former chief rider of the Spanish Riding School, Franz Rochowansky, and she is currently the chief rider at OEC Dressage Worldwide (OEC DWW). In addition, together with her husband, Ian Winfield, Vicki has transformed Oldencraig Equestrian Centre, in Lingfield Surrey, into the world class centre of equestrian excellence that it is today.
Vicki has trained many riders from novice to success at the highest levels including grand prix at international levels. Vicki has also sourced and trained many horses from novice to grand prix, either competing them herself or supporting her clients in progressing through the competition levels on their horses themselves.

- The sourcing of talented horses, for both her clients and herself to train and compete, from exclusive and highly thought of studs and equestrian professionals around the world

- Successfully training and competing both her own and clients’ horses, progressing them from novice to the highest levels including international grand prix

Vicki has trained many riders from novice to success at the highest levels including grand prix at international levels, including:
- Shubhsri(Sherry) Rajendra – a 16 year old with a dream to compete for her country, India, in the Asian Games. Sherry lived her dream, competing after only 9 months training starting as a novice. She gained scores high enough in PSG and Inter 1 to become a member of the Indian dressage team and competed in the 2014 Asian Games with a horse sourced by OEC DWW, Smokey Joe
- Alex Lebedev – trained with a view to competing as a young rider for Russia

- Thomas Goederme – an OEC DWW Advanced Rider hoping to compete as a young rider for Belgium
- Wayne Channon – GB World Championship team member trained from novice to GP
- Bruggs Nicholls – a young rider team member and senior GP international rider, trained from novice. Bruggs is now a top dressage trainer in New Zealand

Vicki also competes horses owned by OEC DWW clients with great success. Currently these include the following horses all of whom competed at the British Dressage National Championships 2018:
- Artist: a palomino Danish bred 9 year old gelding owned by OEC DWW client Sam Francis. Artist has been at OEC DWW since first backed and is now competing successfully at international shows at small tour level including a 4th placing and a 3rd in Roosendaal CDI3* and Hartpury CDI. He qualified for the national championships 2 years running at PSG and Inter I. Artist is currently working at GP level and is achieving over 70% at both GP and GP Special.
- Mango Jacaro: also owned by Sam Francis, Jacaro is a pure bred Spanish PRE stallion who is currently top of the performance index at grand prix level for Iberian horses and is European MCI gold medal winning champion. Jacaro will be competing at the MCI world games in Seville and has been selected for the Olympia world cup qualifier. His current highest score to date is 73.45% in the grand prix special and he regularly scores in the 70%’s.
- Exquisite: a strikingly beautiful 10 year old KWPN stallion owned by OEC DWW client Nathalia Checkmareva. Exquisite is successfully competing at international small tour level and is winning regularly with scores consistently over 70%, he is currently working GP. Exquisite was selected for the Horse of the Year Show 2018.
- Hurricane: a stunning and talented Dutch Warmblood Stallion owned by Angela Jones of Highview Stables. This is Vicky's first season competing Hurricane, they will start at Mediun/Advanced medium and we have high hopes for this new partnership.
- Esquire: a beautiful 10 year old Dutch Warmblood Stallion owned by Angela Jones of Highview Stables. This is Vicky's first season competing Esquire and they will begin their journey at PSG/Int 1 level. Vicky is very much looking forward to competing both of Angela's talented horses this season.
- Salome Di Fontabetti: a charming and talented Hanoverian mare owned by OEC DWW client Nancy Raff. Salome is competing successfully at small tour level and is placed in the top 3 regularly.
- Ambicioso: a pure bred Spanish Pre Stallion owned by OEC DWW client Sam Francis. He was imported by Sam earlier in 2018 and has started his competition career at advanced medium with 2 wins of over 70%. He is currently training for PSG in 2019.

Personal Life
Vicki has been happily married to Ian Winfield since 2008.
She has a keen interest in interior design and has been able to make use of her talents in this area during the refurbishment of Morley Manor, her delightful Grade II listed 15th century home which she shares with Ian.
In her spare time Vicki enjoys both cooking and eating out, particularly when combined with a visit to the theatre, ballet or a music concert. Vicki also enjoys pampering spa days and a spot of retail therapy never goes amiss!
Like her husband Ian, Vicki is an animal lover and they have 2 British bulldogs - maximus and Lilly-Belle, 2 beautiful cats - Boston and Buster, 2 parrots - Scooby Doo and Colonel and 2 miniature donkeys - Sausage and Mash as pets.
